Cartoon eyes rotating in the wrong way

So I rigged a cartoon character with cartoony eyes using a lattice deformer and used an aim constraint to make him look places. I put lattice, eyes and constraint into a single group and parented the group, along with the aim target, to the head joint.

However, when rotating the head sideways, the eyes rotate in this odd way, without me moving the aim targets....

This doesn't happen when rotating the head backwards...

P.S. Interesting to note by looking at the wireframe of the eyes that the eyes seem not to be rotating along with the lattice, deforming instead.

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I solved it by selecting the eye meshes, right clicking on the rotation values and selecting "Break Connection". Apparently some connection (probably to the lattice base) was preventing them from rotating along with the actual lattice!

Hope this helps anyone who stumbles across this thread!
