Hello all,

I'm Will Telford the Product Owner for Rigging and USD in Maya. For even more updates you can follow me on twitter

We gave a talk on Rigging at this years virtual vision series.

There are two interviews I held with Daniel Lindsey of Walt Disney Imagineering talking Disneyland's "Star Wars:Galaxies Edge" and Tokyo Disneyland's "Beauty and the Beast." as well as
Wasim Kkan of Naughty Dog talking The Last of US Part 2

It also has an animation section with our animation Product Owner Mark Tanner speaking with ILM and Build a Rocket Boy.

Enjoy!

Hi Will,

During the presentation, I posted a question whether Maya was working on implementing it's own version of SSD (Smooth Skinning Decomposition).  But my question never appeared.  Maybe you can address it here?

Thanks for your question. Maya does have a skinning decomposition built in with the bake deformer tool. There are also a few open source implementations available.

Wasn't aware of this in the bake deformer tool.  I'll look into it.  But I was specifically wondering if there might be a tool like Naughty Dog's remapping deformations to joints?
