Ramp spindle speed and Lead-in/out feedrate

Hello everyone,

 

I'm a new user of Inventor HSM and milling in general. I have a question regarding the ramp spindle speed and the lead-in/out feed rate. I was curious whether they are related to each other. I created G-Code for a job and everything was going well until the mill tried doing a step-down and broke the end mill, I believe that the combination of the ramp spindle speed and lead-in/out feedrate was too much material for the end mill to handle. I am thinking of modifications to make but I think having this question answered will help me narrow down the possibilities. Thank you

The idea is that the tool is NOT engaged in material when doing lead-in/out. If you need to clear material before finishing a wall or floor, consider using the Adaptive (2d or 3d, depending on your usage) toolpaths. Can you share the part file with your toolpaths? We would be happy to provide advice. Lead in/out are applied to finishing pocket walls and contour walls, but both of those should generally be treated as finishing-only toolpaths. Do all the roughing you can with adaptive.
