name name stabalization for replacing

Came across this today,

As you are aware to replace a component in an assembly using ilogic it is first necessary to "stabalize" the name of the component in the model tree , ie rename the component .

This worked all day long for me in INV2009

We recently moved to INV2018 and on two occasions now this did not work. ie the name in the model tree changed to the name of the new component.

When this happened today I was doing a "manual" replace using the replace component command in the ribbon.

Not with an ilogic rule, however that should not matter....right?

Anyone else experienced this?

Do you copy design your master template?

There is a new way to deal with this situation using manage components.
