Linking Parameters

Hello all,

I don't think Inventor can accommodate this and if not I don't know why not. When I start an Assembly there is often a limiting dimension such as a height from ground level to a raised platform which is different  from one Assembly to another. I would like to bring in materials from content centre and have their length determined by an equation which references the fixed one in my main Assembly. Is this possible or does it have a work around?

Many thanks for looking.

Andy

Place iLogic Component command will give you the option to link a component
parameter to an assembly parameter on placement into an assembly. What's
really tasty about it also, is that it then creates a permanent iLogic rule
'driving' the part parameter (for instance 'Length') based on the assembly
parameter, for future changes.

Hope this helps

Thanks for answering Luke, but I'd hoped to have something work with items from content centre and that's what I think Inventor cannot do.

I believe Inventor API could help but it is easier to demonstrate it on the specific example.  Could you give an example of the typical CC component you are working with?

thanks
