Inventor 2022 Addin Template not detected in Visual Studio 2019

Hi,

I have installed Visual Studio 2019 Community and Developer tools for Inventor 2022. My visual studio is not able to detect the Inventor AddIn template. If I try creating new project it does not show up the AddIn template. Below two ZIP files are already located in the "Documents\Visual Studio 2019\Templates\ProjectTemplates" directory.

I have also tried installing Nifty Inventor AddIn from Brian Ekin's website. It also does not show up.

PS : I have three versions of Inventor installed in my system 2019, 2022 and 2023, and two version of Studio installed 2022 and 2019.

I would appreciate the help on this.

Hi Dutt,

When you new a project from VS2019, make sure to choose All* for the filters like below, currently if you choose a specific language etc. may hide the Inventor Addin Template：

I was having the same issue, but then I tried installing the .NET desktop development workload in the Visual Studio Installer (popped up at beginning of installation, later accessible by clicking "Modify" on your installed version in the "Installed" tab of the installer).

1. Find the supported VS version from the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\SDK\SDK_Readme.htm, then install proper VS version. You can change the Inventor version number in the path to the one you installed.

2. Launch VS once after installation is complete, and choose a default language for startup.
3. Install the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\SDK\DeveloperTools.msi.

4. Launch VS again, now Create a new project(make sure the filters are set to All*) you should be able to see the Inventor addin wizard:

I had this same issue.  Turns out it was OneDrive.

The developerTools installer was going to my regular documents folder, but Visual Studio was looking in the OneDrive folder structure.

I copied the zip files from one to the other and it worked.
