Customization of Physical Properties Database

Not applicable
Is there any way to expand the physical property database in Inventor 2009? I am looking for a way to add a wholre range of new materials as well as new physical properties (like for example the melting point, transition temperatures, hardness, etc). The materials properties are available in tabular form (Excel Spreadsheet). Thank you very much -

The material properties are defined in the Materials.xml file in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2008\Design Data. I use XML Notepad to modify the file, but any xml editor will work. You need to have the following material data in order for Inventor to calculate properties correctly: Density, YoungsModulus, PoissonsRatio, YieldStrength, UltimateTensileStrength, ThermalConductivity, LinearExpansion, & SpecificHeat.

I have been looking for this data to add materials as well. Any chance you can share your excel file? Edited by: bunnifer451 on Oct 22, 2008 3:51 PM
