AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor Integration for Wire Paths

Hi,

I have automated much of AutoCAD Electrical and am finding it is limited in terms of finding FROM/TO's for wires and finding exact wire lengths (ACADE's from/to wire list doesn't take the layout into account to determine the best/shortest routing). I am wondering if AutoCAD Inventor has a way of calculating the shortest path. But I also don't want to have to manually create the layout in Inventor when I have an ACADE 2D layout more or less automated.

I am interested in a more in-depth discussion with someone at Autodesk regarding this kind of an integration to explore what is possible. Let me know if someone is available for this.

Action Items:

-To what extent does Inventor have a wire length calculator for all wires

-To what extent does inventor have a better From/To wire routing option for shortest path

-Does Inventor's API cover inserting components into particular locations, and routing wires automatically through an .xml from ACADE? - I want it to be relatively automatic other than making wiring touch ups at the end.

Thanks,
