Altering Sketch Symbols with iLogic

Hi,

I've found some threads about inserting sketch symbols or changing their scale but nothing about actually altering a sketch symbol with iLogic. I have a door hardware schedule sketch symbol with a "door handing" box that I'd like the user to be able to toggle and choose the correct door handing. The alternative would be having a different sketch symbol for every variation of door handing which is cumbersome.

What I had in mind was maybe having all of the "door handing" sketches (within the sketch symbol) overlapping in different layers and then use iLogic to suppress or un-suppress layers based on user input. I'm not sure how the rule would be initiated after more than one sketch symbol schedule is inserted. Ideally, the symbol would be toggled through the right click, edit field text option and then a drop down list. Is this possible?

Thanks

Just a quick thought, but you can accomplish some of this without code already.

Right now you can already right click on an inserted Sketched Symbol on your drawing, then choose "Edit Symbol...", then select another Symbol from your local Symbol Library, to simply switch out the symbol for another local one in place.  You can create sub-folders within your Sketch Symbols folder with appropriate names for what they contain to make the selections easier.

Yeah but that requires making multiple copies of a slightly different symbol which I want to avoid doing. There are also other circumstances where this would be even less viable. For example, we also have a "compass" symbol that has architectural reference text under it. Ideally I would be able to rotate the compass to point north on the floor plan without rotating the text with it.

Right now the only way to do this in inventor is to make two separate symbols (one for the compass and one for the text box) which would also take more clicks to place, just so that I can rotate the compass independently from the text.

I'm essentially trying to create the Inventor equivalent of dynamic blocks in AutoCAD.
