WorkStation Z620 workin really slowly with FEM Inventor

Dear Sirs,

I need you help with correct configuration of my work station Z620 with 2xIntel Xenon CPU E5-2620@2 HGHz, 32 GB RAM, 64 –bit Windows 7 Professional.

Generally I’m using Autodesk Inventor for FEM calculations. And all the time is that more complicated components need time for calculations. A lot of time. Eg. Now I have component with 1767850 elements and my computer working now 3 days. I’m not did any special configuration of my Work Station. Just I was buy make installations of software and working.

My question is. I have to make a special configuration of my Work Station for working with Autodesk application FEM for using full of power of this computer? Maybe I have to use some other software which can direct my full computer power to the Autodesk software? Or maybe I have to buy more RAM – but how much to reduce my current calculation from three days to two hours?

Hi Greg,

During the calculation, how much RAM is the computer using? You can check this using Task Manager.

If the computer is using all the RAM then it will be paging to your hard disk, which makes things slow.

I would like to compare using my computer with 128 GB's RAM.

Hello Greg,

the calculation duration depends on the CPU-speed and RAM. The cpu is not very high rated and the RAM is also very low.

You should change the CPU and add more RAM.
