Hello I had a Properties Tab pop up on my screen and I can't remove it. The close tab (X) doesn't work. Does anyone know where I can deactivate this?

Ivon

What made this pop up? Were you doing some automation/iLogic or just using built-in commands?

EDIT: Also, I assume you've tried restarting?

You can try to start the command for creating Hole/Extrude feature, then close the Properties panel, if this does not solve the problem please just restart Inventor. If you have reproducible steps for this issue please let me know, I can log a defect for this.

@DRoam and @YuhanZhang ,

I was changing the properties of a line in an idw but hit escape to exit the change.

I changed my mind and didn't want to continue with that change.

I had also tried restarting this didn't work the first restart but after a crash it was gone.

The crash happened without a crash report being generated.

Sorry @YuhanZhang I was unable to use your suggestion to fix this.

If it happens again I'll let you know.

Regards,
Ivon

Is that Properties panel invoked from the edit of a line in drawing? I thought it was a properties panel for create/edit an Extrude/Hole etc. features. Can you create a video for your steps to display the properties panel again?

@YuhanZhang,

I'll try to reproduce the error (if possible).

I have experienced this anomaly once or twice too, but have always just restarted Inventor and carried on, as that seemed to clear things up.

Probably of little help either as I cannot remember the sequence of events. However, I have compiled an image of what I experienced in case it helps?

For reference I am using;

Autodesk Inventor Professional 2020 64 bit edition build 168 release 2020.0.1

Using normal commands as well, no ilogic etc.

Thanks @MalcMaltby.

I just learned to live with it for now.  I embed it into the model tab until it goes away.

One day I'll catch the bug that causes it (maybe?)

Ivon

I have this issue as well and hope to get a solution soon. It's annoying and gets in the way of the Model/Vault tabs.

I have a similar problem. After I use the geometric tolerance or a welding symbol the window stays. You have to close inventor to get rid of it. I do not want to close the program every time this happen. See picture.

How do you cure this?

@cjvanwyk,

This problem hasn't happened since I have upgraded to 2021.  But as a work around I dragged the properties window to the model tree and embedded it there.  It was out of the way until a restart. It isn't a perfect solution aside from upgrading.  Hope this helps.

I have been able to get rid of through the advice of one of the posts above. I just start a new .ipt, and create a sketch then perform an extrude feature. Once I close the extrude pop-up window, it eliminates the property window/tab. Hope that helps.

Hi Ivon,

Can you remember how to steadily reproduce the problem? If you have steps to reproduce the problem I will ask our dev to look into it.

Hello @YuhanZhang (Rocky),

Since I have upgraded to 2021 this issue hasn't happened. I was just trying to help @cjvanwyk to let him know what I did in the past. So sorry I can no longer reproduce the issue.

Regards,
Ivon
