POSSIBLE? - parametric model to PDF or DWF

Hi there guys!

I have a question- if this is possible?

I am making a drawing or let's say sketch drawing for sales department.

I What I am trying to do is to create a PDF file that is "parametric". This would be a technical questionnaire for a heating tank.

We are flexible in producing these tanks, so that our customers can choose position of the connections themselves.

But I want to simplify the process asking a client where these connections have to be.

So I want to make a PDF file with available dropdown menus and a posibility to place angular positions. And form these values I want the tank to change it's geometry.

Maybe we are talking baout not a PDF file, but I was wondering if there any way to make it real in an easy way? And so that this file can be opened by a client without any special soft? Maybe a DWF file?

I attached 2 pictures where I show as an example how original printer file looks like and one that is filled. This process is normally done by hand and usually missing a lot of dimensional information.

Hi,

After many years/excels i can say that an excel file is the most suitable solution for many people, they know excel!

Provide a fully detailed sheet, with images and so on, properly organised.

If you receive such an excel, you can copy and paste it "above" your model.

If the model and the excel are properly linked through the parameters your model should be updated without any problem.

I know that such parametric model can be complex, but i've done this a lot and with success!

There is a big difference between a draftsman and a sales 😉

Yeah excel would do as well! And I would say that I would prefer EXCEL actually...

But how do I make excel file with embeded Inventor part into it? And not opposite?

I want sales guys just to send for example EXCEL file with drop down menus with choices they have and to have a 3D model in the same EXCEL file so that they can see right away those changes on a model. And this model to be parametric- meaning that if they make changes in drop down menus- they can see those changes on a model right away.

Hi,

You can implement inventor view in your excel.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016...

Then you should start using apprentice server to flush the parameters to it, and to update the model and display it again in the

inventor view control. I don't know if this will be going fast enough to have nice user experience.

I would investigate Configurator 360 for this kind of sales configuration.
Thanks,
