Is it plausible/possible to write a macro that will open a folder of MDT parts and sequentially convert each part to IV and then save the new part.

Should be. You could use my KWiKBatchRun program so that all you would have to write is the code to do one file. But personally I wouldn't do it. Most files I have translated from MDT to Inventor needed being babysat and carful examination to make sure everything went right. Also couldn't you just make a MDT Assembly and instance every part in folder to the assembly, then translate the assembly? -- Kent Keller Autodesk Discussion Forum Facilitator "dk24991" wrote in message news:27345516.1096914193017.JavaMail.jive@jiveforum1.autodesk.com... > Is it plausible/possible to write a macro that will open a folder of MDT parts and sequentially convert each part to IV and then save the new part.

Kent:
Thanks for the assembly suggestion. I never thought of doing that. I will try it. We have over 1000 pts that need to be converted, this way I can do them one folder at a time.
Beats the alternative.
By the way, have you figured out how to get the properties like weight, part number etc to translate over.

No, but I really haven't looked at it either. -- Kent Keller Autodesk Discussion Forum Facilitator "dk24991" wrote in message > By the way, have you figured out how to get the properties like weight, part number etc to translate over.
