Is there a way to pass parameters to iPart?

Hi,

I'm working on an assembly and have an ipart in the assembly. I need to add a hole on the iPart and the hole's location is depending on other parts in the assembly. I'm trying to pass the hole location to the ipart but got an error:

Catastrophic failure (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))

So, is this possible in Inventor, or there are something like assembly feature so I can add a hole on the iPart after it's been placed in the assembly?

Thx a lot. This doesn't work directly for me as I can't link the iPart to the assembly where the iPart is in. But I worked around it by adding a dummy part in the assembly and pass the parameter from the assembly to the dummy part, and then let the iPart to link the parameters to the dummy part. Everyting works perfectly now.
