iPart with iLogic to select sketch for feature

Hello everyone,

We have timing belts that we use for our transmissions. We implement a few different configurations.

I am looking to make an iPart for the belt, so when placed into an assembly, the user can choose the desired configuration. The correct configuration would be the result of using iLogic to switch the sketch that would be used for the body extrusion. This is one method. Another would be having all of the potential configurations extruded simultaneously, and then using iLogic to toggle suppression as needed.

Would either of these methods work?

Many thanks in advance.

are you saying that you want to use iLogic in an iPart??

I would not use iLogic in iParts.

Use iParts to create al the different parts u need, and use iLogic to exchange them in your assembly

maybe you have to make more than one iPart.

can you share screenshots or models to show what you want?

Succes on your project, and have a nice day

HermJan.Otterman,

I was hoping to have all of the belt orientations exist in only one part/iPart. I was hoping to use a custom parameter to denote the orientation upon placement into an assembly. The custom parameter would tell iLogic what to suppress. Would iLogic for the part still work if the changes would occur when placing into an assembly?

I want to avoid implementing iLogic at the assembly level as many of the other users may be unfamiliar with it.

HermJan.Otterman,

Here are a few screen shots of an example of what I am trying to do:

Block Side.PNGCylinder Side.PNGBelt.PNG

The first two screen shots you could imagine would be a transmission whose pulleys I would need to project. The next step would be to place a part with just a plane. The last screen shot is the result of projecting the face of the block and cylinder in separate sketches, offsetting, and extruding.

Now imagine the last screenshot is all of the different belt orientations extruded simultaneously in a similar fashion.

Could I make this an iPart, and then use iLogic within the part to control which features are suppressed based on a custom parameter that is set upon placement into an assembly?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
