Inventor dwg to AutoCAD dwg export - assembly and parts to blocks

Hello!

I have an idw  of an assembly, is there a way to export this idw to Acad dwg format, then when the drawing is opened in ACAD, the parts in the assembly are converted to ACAD blocks in each view?

I searched everywhere, but I didn't find an solution.

thanks!

No... that's not possible on AutoCAD DWG format.

If you save it as an "Inventor DWG File", each view will become a block which you can insert but to have each part as a separate block is not possible.

What you can do is place a view of each part on the assembly drawing (even outside the border) or change your default save option to Inventor DWG format.

You can then open each Inventor DWG file, switch to Model tab and insert the block. that can be xref-ed wherever you need the block.

If Inventor model has changed and you open and save the drawing then all autocad files where the blocks are used as xref will update.

Here is a screencast on the general concept.
