Inventor Applications Options Not saving

Inventor 2016 Applications options for customizing inventor I change them and then close out of Inventor and then re-enter they are all reset back to the way they were..... 

 

Windows 7 enviroment 

 

 

Where do they store the applications options is in the app  data folder on the local PC ?

 

or the design datat folder on the local PC ?  

 

wondering if its a folder permission setting that IT has lockdown on the local machine

Hi @esseltine,

 

Have a look at the directory such as this on your system:

C:\Users\cwaguespack\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2015\Preferences

 

obviously substitiuting my user name and Inventor version for yours.

In my experience this is usually a sign of a failed install.  The registry keys likely dont exist and Inventor doesnt create them when edited.

 

(from memory)

If you go into regedit HKCU\software\autodesk\inventor V20 (for 2016)\system\preferences there should be about 30 keys.  If there are any less then repairing the installation is the first thing to try.  Obviously this includes all the usual things like UAC off and ideally antivirus stopped although ours never is.

 

Lastly you could try taking a working machine and export the entire inventor V20 key and apply it to the faulty machine.

Are you sure that you can write in the regesty. This is importand because the application option write in the regestry. Like CadUser say it before
