Inventor API in IDW files

Can anybody tell me if Inventors API can be applied to a IDW file. I have created a large vba application, using Anton Van Buitens help, that can extract hole data
(eg Depth, Diameter, Thread Size etc etc) from an IPT file but I would like to apply it to the IDW file. If you create a hole table in an IDW file, Inventor prompts you to select a datum point. I want to do a similar thing except, once I have selected the Datum point, I want to be able to run a VBA macro that can extract the hole data to a ascii text file. This would not be confined to holes but would also be used to extract iFeature details (eg insertion point, angles etc)

Can the above be done?

Can anybody help????

Kind Regards

Just guessing, but I would suspect that you should look at the DrawingView
Object Members. I would imagine you are going to have to figure out how to
convert the point in the IDW to the proper point on the part in the ipt
file.

I could be way off though??

Say hi to Anton, and tell him not to be such a stranger ;~)

Hello,
If the issue is accessing the geometry in the drawing view, the Inventor API
does not currently support that. However, drawing view geometry access is a
high priority for the Inventor API.
Thank you,

here you can:

Dim odim As DrawingDimension
Line1 :
'odim = ThisApplication.CommandManager.Pick(SelectionFilterEnum.kDrawingDimensionFilter, "Select Dimension")
odim = ThisApplication.CommandManager.Pick(SelectionFilterEnum.kAllEntitiesFilter, "Select Dimension")
If odim Is Nothing Then
	Exit Sub
Else
	odim.Precision = 3
	If TypeOf odim Is HoleThreadNote = True Then
		Dim oHNote As HoleThreadNote = odim
		MsgBox(oHNote.FormattedHoleThreadNote, , "")
		a = InputBox("","FormattedHoleThreadNote", oHNote.FormattedHoleThreadNote)

		'still testing
		'oHNote.FormattedHoleThreadNote = "<HoleProperty HolePropertyID='kHoleDiameterHoleProperty' Precision='3' AlternatePrecision='3'</HoleProperty>"
	End If

End If
