iLogic part placement & drawing copy

Hi All,

I'm using Inventor 2021 & I have a pipe support I use which has iLogic in to vary my height & pipe diameter etc and it has a drawing attached - usually I've been using copy design from the vault to create my project specific item and the drawing pulls through and updates with my new project numbers and configuration details.

If I use place ilogic component in my assembly, my support comes through and I can configure this instance I need but I don't get my drawing to issue to production - is there some code which will create a new drawing along with my new part instance? Or is there a rule I can run which will let me select my template drawing and change the reference model to me new instance?

I tried a rule from the forum posted in 2016 by Steve Olson `Using iLogic to Copy Drawings' but I get quite a few errors - maybe there's an updated version of this..?

Thanks

Jon

Hi, Jon... I'm not the guy for ilogic... believe me!  But, I will suggest that you copy and paste either the code from the above forum post, or a link to the post itself so that the experts in this forum can see what code you are working with.  Good luck!

In addition to my 1st post, the link for the code I tried is https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/simplecontent/content/ilogic-to-c...

the link in the article to download the code doesn't work so I'd input this manually from the screencast view.

Have you used the "Replace Model Reference" command that comes with Inventor?

Manage Tab > Modify PalletManage Tab > Modify Pallet

Dialog boxDialog box

If you save a new copy of your part drawing then you can replace the reference this way.  It's not iLogic Automation, but it is quick.

Let me know if you have any questions, or if this command is not sufficient for your end goal.

Thanks JCamper, that works for me!

No need to over complicate it with iLogic.
