            Hello Inventor experts!

After some time without post any new doubts, I am here again to ask for your help.

In this time my target is to create a custom tab where I can put my macro buttons.

I already have created some buttons using the customize functionality, but is not exactly what I need.

I have attached an image to help to understand my case.

I am available to provide any other information necessary.

I am using Inventor Professional 2020.

            Thanks in advance.

            Best regards,

            Hello fellows!

I continue with my searches in the web and in this forum to try to achieve this goal.

I have found some information regarding to create a tab using others software to generate an add in and install it in Inventor.

There are a lot codes and instructions. I have tried but I haven’t succeeded.

Any colleague that already has succeeded in create this kind of tabs, could give some information to help in this effort?

Thanks in advance for everyone that can help.

I created a addon for creating buttons to trigger external iLogic rules. I expect it will be available (for free) in the autodesk app soon. You can find more information here.

Hello @JelteDeJong !

First of all thanks for your answer.

I have read all the information in the link you indicated.

It seems this addon is very useful.

I am not sure if I understood correct. Please clarify to me.

Is this  addon ready for use? Can I download it from this link you sent?

Or do you have sent this link just as information regarding a product that maybe in the future will be available in Inventor?

Best regards,

At this moment the addon is reviewed by Autodesk. As soon as they are happy it will be released to the Autodesk app store. The exact release date is there for not in my hands. I expect it will be released in the coming 2 week. Keep a eye out for my addons in the app store. it will be there soon.

Hello @JelteDeJong

Thanks for the update.

I have followed this addon page, and As I could see for the first comment that this addon is great!!!

Congratulation for your development.

Unfortunately, the Inventor version I use is older than 2020 and as this addon was developed for this version and newer, I still haven’t had the opportunity to test.

But I will find a way to get a new Inventor version, install and test your addon.

I will keep this post open to let you know the results.

Thanks and best regards,

Hello @JelteDeJong

After a long time I got access to a 2021 Inventor version and I could install and test your add on.

I succeeded in create new buttons in the tabs and panels existent, congratulations for that.

But regarding to create new tabs different than the existent (Assemble, Design, 3D model, etc) like one named "My own tab" for instance.

Is it possible to use your add on to do that?

@JelteDeJong !

I have followed the instructions in the help page you indicated and I got succeeded in create a new own customized ribbon/tab.

After a wide search I have done all over the internet about how to create customized ribbon and panels, with no doubt your solution is the best way to do that.

Congratulations for the good work done in this development. According to my researches, I have a idea about how difficult is to achieve this result.

I will mark this post as solved and see you in the next Inventor pursuits.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Hi, I know this is an old topic, but ran into some difficulties when trying out this addon.

Is it possible to make use of external rules?
When trying to add a button using an external rule I error.
