how to change key mapping? and include parts in assembly file?

Hi,

I just started working with Inventor 2015 (as a student), and i have a few questions about the program.
By default shift+mouse wheel gets you in orbital view mode, and mouse wheel only gets you in panning mode. I'd rather swap those controls, because i'm used to have it that way, and because i think it works faster that way. I can't find an options page where you can alter such settings?(or create shortcuts for them) I have additional mouse buttons on my mouse and i'd like to use them too.

For the second thing, i think there's only a third-party solution.(if there is any)
If you create an assembly, you always have to keep in mind the locations of the included parts,(and not to delete them) you can't rename them etc.
so if it's possible, i'd like to include them in the .iam file so i can use that as a stand-alone file, that way they're less likely to get corrupted, too.

If someone could help me with these things i'd be really thankful.

With regards to your first question, Navigation.  No. Don't do it.  Use the navigation as it comes out of the box, and within a week, you'll be very comfortable, and have the added benefit of:

a) not being lost when you use someone else's machine/login/etc,

b) not having to customise that part of your install every time you upgrade/reinstall, and

c) annoy and frustrate anyone else who might use your computer.

An alternative to Shift-Middle is hold F4, and the Left click, or click the Orbit command.  My professional advice: get used to it.  I happen to use 3 different 3D programs at work, and each has different navigation, but you get used to.

Question 2, if I'm understanding correctly, has to do with file management? This will most likely be set up by your company (when you start work).  In our company, we use a single (flat) folder for each project, with files downloaded to that folder from via SAP PLM.  Others will use Vault (I'm not sure how they get set up), and library-type parts (nuts, bolts, etc) might live on a file server.

If you're working at home, you're right, you do want to set this up carefully. But I don't think that atuomation is the place to ask this question. I think those who have home-office/design set-ups will better be able to answer this question for you, and you'd have more visibility here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-general-discussion/bd-p/78

Good luck.
