development language for application development

I am looking into development languages for developing future applications for Inventor. I would like a candid opinion from a develper that has worked with C++, VB and VB.NET.

Could you give the pros and cons of using these languages as a development tool?

I haven't used all those languages for development with Inventor (I'm using C#), but generally

C++
Pros: fast, powerful
Cons: unforgiving, hard to master

VB
Pros: easy, built into Inventor
Cons: dying language, doesn't support modern language constructs etc

VB.Net
Pros: relatively easy, fantastic libraries (.Net) & tools
Cons: (Theoretically) slower than C++, needs runtime

So suggested choice? Depending on prior knowledge to its predecessors: VB.Net or C#
