Default templates and the Infinite Search

Hi all,

I have been, as the subject title says, in a seemingly endless search to find out what templates inventor uses when you havent picked a template. Specifically im referring to modeling as opposed to drawings (.idw and .dwg). There are 2 cases that i can think of specifically that this case comes into play. 1) From the main menu ("I") when you pick the arrow next to "New", and select the "Part" option. Inventor, from that point, without asking what template to use, will start what appears to be a fully untemplated 3d space, it seems to me that this must still be a template as it knows what measurements and such to use, however doesn't include any iLogic forms that have been user created, and may be needed. The second case is when importing a step file. when i drag and drop to open a step file, it will bring it in to what also appears to be an untemplated .ipt, which causes me the same problem in regard to variables and iLogic. If there is any info out there anywhere on how to more direct those "default templates" I'd LOVE to have it, as would the people sitting around me 😛 ...  ... I should also mention that as a company we use our own templates for modeling and for drawing, and as such we have removed the "Standard.ipt" template, and others in that same vein.

Much Appreciation, and Hey, good to communicate with people of the same interest, hope everyone enjoys the experience as i do.

In inventor go to options then the file tab.

Then in windows explorer go to the folder location show here.

There should be an inventor assembly, part and drawing file here called
"Standard". These are what are opened as default templates.

Hope that helps.
