Customizing Family Tables

Can anyone please help me with the following: I want to change the cells in Family Tables for nuts, bolts and washers in order to have the part name of the part that is generated to be the same as the actual part number, I want the browser pane to display the part as the part number, and I want the parts list to have the part number and the description filled in with the actual information. Through trial and error I am not able to discipher what columns effect what property. I really don't want to (or feel that I should) have to create custom columns and perform mapping to accomplish this. These are very basic, everyday parts, and to customize the content center to show the information the way I want it to show shouldn't be this complicated. Any help will be appreciated. I'm using Inventor and Vault 2011.

Hi Andy,

Scroll through to the column you want to change in the family table, right-click on the column heading and select "Column Properties."

Change the expression to match whichever column's information you want.

So for example, to make the "Description" the same as the "Part Number" go to the "Description" column properties and change the expression to {Part Number}  Make sure the column is mapped to whichever iProperty you want the info to be stored in.

Another related question: I've created new library, copied several families and changed a bit them (Filenames, PartNumbers and add material choice).

After that I of course wanted to replace fasteners in existing assembly by as few actions as possible.

The usage of "Replace from Content Center" command** for that purpose was high promising, but it turned out applicable not for all fastener families.

Do you know what should retain in fasteners' family in order Replacement was half-automatic. Number and values of key Parameters?

** When it goes to original library - It is very easy to replace, for example, English fasteners to Russian by firstly change active Language of Content Center to Russian and then just apply "Replace from Content Center" command to every fastener type with "replace all" option activeted. It by default chooses exactly the same set of parameter as the fastener to be replaced.
