Changing ipart inside sub assembly

I am making an assembly with four sub assemblies, and other parts. Inside the sub assembly there is an ipart, a w-section. Is there a way to change the ipart from the main assembly with ilogic? Also I know you can change the part length by linking it with the assembly with ilogic. Is it possible to still link it if it in the sub-assembly?

I'm also looking for a solution like this. I'd like te refer to the 'configuration' function Solid Works has. In SW it is possible to change the configuration of a part per sub assy.
