hi all
i hope that somebody could help me...i have a student copy which i downloaded via autodesk,i have 2 issues which i have been unable to resolve they are as follows:-

(1) everytime i try to insert a picture (jpeg or bitmap) into a drawing to decal onto something i keep getting the following message "Failed to register microsoft paint,you may not have enough permissions to modify your registry.".i don't know what to do (attached screen print of Error)

(2) i have been having problems trying to connect to autodesk update get error message " unable to conect to server"

i would be gratfull for all help

pc spec

vista 64bit
4gb ram

I don't know what the problem is but suggest you
post your question in the autodesk.inventor newsgroup.  It's
intended for general Inventor questions where this newsgroup is specific to
Inventor's programming interface.

27bugsy,

Not a nice solution but try to give normal users write access to the registry key: HKCR .BMP.

Then, try inserting a bpm picture again.

It worked for me.

I had this problem before, im pretty sure that you will need to run inventor with administrator permissions (right click run as admin in vista)
