Currently plot templates are not very useful. The following are shortfalls. You cannot specify the result type in the plot template. You can check and specify a range for the template but it is not saved. Templates must be created for each nastran in-cad file that is made.
I would suggest the following improvements.
- Make it so that the result type is specified in the template. I want one template to be for stress, and to display von-Mises solid stresses. I want another template to be for stress, and to display von-Mises shell stresses, etc.
- Make the range values stay when the template is applied to a subcase result set. If I have the range box checked and a minimum value of 0 psi set and a maximum value of 16500 psi set in the template, I want it to apply to each subcase I put the template in.
- Make it so that the results template files can be saved to an external file where they can be recalled easily for use in any nastran in-cad file. Maybe this would be a user defaults file.
- Also it would be nice if selected templates are automatically applied to each result set.
These changes would save a lot of time in the post processing environment.
