Cross section definition

The cross-sectional information for a round pipe is confusing.

Why doesn't it say directly that you should enter the radius of the pipe and not the diameter?

Because it's easy to think that dim is the same as diameter?

so, could those dim 1 and dim 2 texts replace radius 1 and radius 2 or even better if you could give a straight diameter, because you always know it and you don't need to calculate the diameter separately if there is a strange diameter measurement.
