What unit is spc heat flow?

Hello,

i attached a screenshot of my nastran result. I want to specify the spc heat flow but it remains unclear which unit the result hast. Metric standard is W/m² but that result to very unrealistic results.

Any help would be appriciated!

Hello @Anonymous,

the unit should be "W" for your case. Can you do a simple steady state analysis where a flux is applied to an area, with only SPC thermal constraint? Then check the results. Does the value at the SPC equal "flux x area"?

Not sure why the units is not displaying for these results. This might need to be raised to the Product Team but we want make sure that your analysis looks okay with the simple check described above.

hello,

i tried to do as instructed but there are also no results. But i found out the input unit for heat flow is mW/mm², which makes quite good sense in view of the results. Still the unit is not displayed in the results and it would be way better to have it in W/m².

Thanks for the fast answer 🙂

I have a designer and engineering working on an SPC heat flow analysis and they want to know the units of measure as well.   Does changing the units from Metric to Inch change the SPC heat flow units of measure?

Any help would be appreciated.
