What does the parameter SLINEPOSTOL do?

Hi guys. I am new to Nastran-In-CAD and am having troubles conducting non-linear static analysis with contact. The load error is converging very slowly. I am currently simulating bending with tetra elements and surface contacts. I came across this parameter called "SLINEPOSTOL".
In the reference guide, it states -
"Used to control contact surface segment overlap. The actual tolerance used varies for each contact segment and is equal to the product of the contact segment reference dimension (average segment edge length) and SLINEPOSTOL. A slave node is considered off the contact surface when past the segment boundary plus this value." The default value is 1.0E-2.
Can any expert out there help to clarify how does this parameter affect a non linear contact simulation?
