One part doesn't mesh

Hello everyone,

I am testing elements of a tensile testing machine and I have reached a problem. When I setup the whole analysis and go to Mesh, it meshes all of my elements, except the first one, as shown in the picture below:

I have read some of the solutions on the forum, but I cannot find a cure. There is a correct Idealization for the first part, its a Solid and it has the material.  There is no error message when the meshing is finished, it just leaves it unmashed. I tried to lower the mesh size, but it also didn't work.

Does anyone have an idea what is the problem?

Hello @procenitelj ,

Could be a lot things causing this problem. There is an article “How to resolve meshing issues”. Have you red it?

If you open the part separately from the assembly, are you able to mesh it as a “stand-alone” part? If you can mesh it, separate it in the assembly from the rest of the parts so they don’t touch each other. Can you mesh it?

If the part doesn’t mesh as a “stand-alone” part there might be something wrong with the geometry.

If you cannot solve it with the suggestion in the article I mentioned, please add your model to this post and tell us what version if Nastran you are using.

Can you mesh the part when you open it as the single part file?

Did you try to use the Inventor command „Rebuild all“ with the single part file open and then save the part file?

I had to make a new part, it didn't want to mesh the single part nor the rebuild command worked. Now it is ok.

Hi.

I had the same problem. I just went back to the model, change (delete) the part, then back to NASTRAN environment, delete previous idealizations, materials, and so on; run the mesh again. Then back to the assembly, put the part back again, then back to the nastran environment and did the mesh again and it worked.

It seems it is necesary to go back to the assembly, and delete the part, and then run the mesh again, because nastran "remembers" previos meshes. So the point is to make sure nastran doesn't remember the wrong mesh. But in order to do so, it is neccesary to delete previous idealizations before every meshing.
