I've just noticed that the bolted connection in 2017 shows icons for a blind threaded bolt and a through hole with bolt & nut. these are labelled BOLT & CAP SCREW and are clearly not. Can they be more clearly labelled?
Also when using the blind threaded option, only "edge" seems to work as a selection for "bearing surface/edge for bolt head"

Are you using a circular surface for the bearing surface? If the surface is rectangular then it is an invalid selection. From the Nastran In-CAD help on Bolt Connectors: This is a surface or an edge on the head side of the bolt. When selecting a surface, it must represent a bearing type surface. When I use a circular surface that represents the bearing surface it works as expected.
