ANALYSIS TERMINATED ABNORMALLY

Hello,

I have seen this problem come up on the board before, but did not see a solution posted.

I just installed Autodesk Nastran 2015 onto my machine and tried to run a file.  Very simple file, 1 bar element.

I get this in the errors and warnings tab.

ANALYSIS TERMINATED ABNORMALLY

TOTAL WARNINGS = 0
TOTAL FATAL ERRORS = 0

The earlier NeiNastran that I have on my machine works for the same *.nas file.

The installation guide I used is attached.  It seems that everyone else in the group used the same procedure with no problems.

Hi bdfosterWPXPZ,

Hmm, was the .INI file for this analysis created initially with NEi Nastran? I believe there are few changes to the INI file between versions related to licensing that could cause this problem. Could you try deleting temp.ini and see if things work ok. Based on the install instructions you uploaded, the analysis should then correctly point to the default Autodesk Nastran INI file.

Regards,

Andrew

Bingo!

That did it.  I just created a new analysis set and saved the anaylsis under a different name too for good measure, and the editor ran successfully.

Thanks for the help.

Hello,

I am having the same problem with my jobs terminating abnormally. I run a job that has run before, and it just stops running, doesn't give me any errors or warnings.  I tried deleting the .ini files in my working directory and running them again, but that did not help.  I changed the name of the file, and that did not help either.

I have a student copy of Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2015 installed through the web installation process.  Recently I installed another program for modal analysis, and when I started it up it said it was "configuring Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2015," but I don't know why (the other software does not communicate with ASM 2015).  After using this new software for a while (m+p International Smart Office modal analysis software), none of my Nastran jobs submitted through the Nastran Editor are solving.  They all "terminate abnormally" with no other information.

I even uninstalled ASM 2015 and reinstalled it using the same file I originally downloaded to do the web installation of the student version.  Same issues.  I also tried installing ASM 2016 and ASM 2017 and am having the same issues as well in the newer versions of the program.

I have attached several screenshots.  I also attached the .ini file if that helps.

Thank you for your help,

My issue was a licensing issue with a student version.  It turns out I needed to register the product; I was only on a trial version.
