Hello, me and my friend want to make an impact analysis to a composite materials and we are looking for softwares that are capable to do that. I saw a software that can do it in a video, it looks similar to Autodesk Inventor Nastran, can we make this such an analysis on Autodesk Inventor Nastran? If not, can you give suggestions for any other Autodesk software that we can use for this purpose please?

Hi @doruk.ozcanWPLJB . Welcome to the Inventor Nastran forum.

Inventor Nastran has composite elements and impact analysis. Have fun.

But you may want to consider getting a different friend, someone who likes to do things more enjoyable than simulations. 🙂 Maybe astronomy or soccer or another hobby.

Hello!

Autodesk Inventor Nastran is indeed a powerful tool for simulation and analysis, and it's widely used for structural and mechanical analysis, including impact analysis. While Nastran within Autodesk Inventor can perform certain types of impact simulations, it might be more geared toward static and dynamic analysis under various loading conditions, including some impacts. However, depending on the complexity of the impact you're studying (e.g., high-velocity impacts or those requiring detailed material response modeling), you may need additional software or a more specialized approach.

If Autodesk Inventor Nastran doesn't fully meet your needs for impact analysis, here are a couple of suggestions:

  1. Autodesk Simulation Mechanical – This is another Autodesk software that offers a broader set of analysis tools for stress, vibration, and thermal simulations, including some capabilities for dynamic analysis that could help with impacts.

  2. Autodesk Fusion 360 – It also has simulation tools that could be useful for analyzing composite materials under dynamic conditions. Fusion 360's cloud-based platform makes it easy to handle simulations and provides a user-friendly interface for setting up and running various types of simulations.

  3. ANSYS or LS-DYNA – These are external software options that might offer even more advanced capabilities specifically for impact analysis, especially when working with composites and high-energy events.

If you're focused on impact analysis specifically for composite materials, I recommend looking into LS-DYNA or ABAQUS for their specialized capabilities in simulating complex impact scenarios and composite material behavior. They can provide a higher level of detail in the material modeling and response under impact.

Good luck with your project, and feel free to ask if you need further assistance!
