Wood Working Hardware

Wood Working Hardware

As more and more users work with Inventor for doing Wood Working, it would be great if Content Center came with a bunch of predefined Wood Working specific hardware .... It would also be great if standard Stud/Board size were part of the Content Center, and therefore could be used as part of the Frame Generator.

@michel.beaulieuMR625, what kinds of wood working hardware would you be interested in?

Hi @petestrycharske : Pete, if you do a quick and simple search on Furniture Connectors, you will see a very long list of components, both Bolts and nuts that are specific to wood working. You will also find very unique equipment such as hinges and much more.... The list is very long.... Handles, Cabinet Hinges and it goes on..... (This is in regards to Content Center). But what is also frustrated for customers is standard board/stud member sizes, which could be used in Frame Generator. I teach Inventor in Furniture making, and using frame generator is a great tool. But the first thing I have to tell students "sorry, no wood parts or hardware in Inventor". And the issue multiplies as users want to use Nesting and CNC. You create CNC code for a part in Inventor. You bring the part into the nesting module of Inventor and would expect the Nesting to recognize the CNC, so that when the nesting is done, the final CNC code would be automated - but it's not..... There's no automation or "let's save some steps" for users being thought off.

Sometimes you have to make your own.  It wouldn't be that hard to make a custom CC library for lumber sizes.  A former coworker of mine had done it a few years ago for some personal projects, but we accidentally lost it when he changed computers.  I don't think he ever got around to making it again.

He made it by copying the steel flat bar family and changing the dimensions in the table to reflect lumber sizes (and of course, changing the physical material so he didn't have mild steel 2x4's).

Good day everyone,
it is easy. We created such a library ourselves. And thanks to the Woodwork for Inventor accessory, it can make holes and grooves.

This would also be useful for designing shipping crates for items. it would be best just to have to dimensions reported as frame generator does with it's members. Right now we have to create huge iFactories of standard lumber sizes and use those, frame generator should eliminate that
