Highlight Selected Parameter.png

It can be really difficult to find out what a Model Parameter's source is, particularly for Sketch Dimensions. The "Consumed by" column tells which sketch a parameter belongs to, but it can be really hard to find which particular sketch dimension it's associated with.

When we click a Model Parameter in the Parameters window, please highlight its source/owner in the Browser and Graphics Window. For example:

  • Sketch Dimension parameters: Highlight parent sketch in browser, and highlight dimension in graphics area
  • Extrusion distance: Highlight extrusion feature in browser and graphics area
  • Fillet size: Highlight fillet feature in browser and graphics area
  • Work Plane offset: Highlight work plane in browser and graphics area

You easy can let show both values and parameter name for the dimensions.

@Gajus61, I prefer to have those turned off because they make the view more cluttered. I don't really care about dimension parameter names. When the parameter dialog is open, I just want to know which dimension is associated with a given parameter. And in that situation, a highlight (as requested) is much better than trying to find a dimension with the same name as the parameter. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I agree, it would be easier and faster, if i could directly see the highlighted dimension, instead of searching for the name.

Especially useful, if the names are turned off (for an "uncluttered view") and there are dimensions with the same value.

I know this is a bit old but I'd add my voice to this idea.  Excel does it nicely, when you're creating a formula it highlights and color codes the referenced cells.  Really helps visualise where stuff is coming from.
