visibility switch

visibility switch

i want to see a better thing to switch visibilty of any kind of geometry.

It´s horrible first to set a selection filter for choosing some visible objects, then RMB find the visibility entry to switch it off. And it´s very horrible to find the invisble geomtry in browser select it and another RMB find the visibilty entry an sitch it on. This is procedure which is done hundred times an hour. So this has to be much more userfriendly.

So maybe this can be done like in Alias. I don´t have to choose a lecetion filter first, i can select everything with window selection und hide it with a shortcut. Other way around. I can switch the window so that i can see only the invisible geometry where i can also select with a window and switch them visible with shortcut and end up with a window switch to the visble environment. This is a very fast way of switching visibility!!!

Have you tried Isolate?

If you do it hundred times an hour you may want to rethink the way you work I use it maybe 3 times a day..

I´ve tried isolate but it´s not the same.

Have you ever tried hide 5 parts and and then make visible 3 of them??

No never had too. If I isolated something and I want it back I undo insolate pick new options and re-isolate.

I use isolate and undo insolate. If I find myself working on things a lot in the same area I use view option and set up views so I just have to click the view I want things turn on and off and zooms me right into the spot I am working on.

Sometimes I will move things to a folder so if I need to turn them all off I just click on the folder and turn them all off at one time or I know that is where the parts and assemblies are so it is easy to find..

I also think michael.marx has a point and that the "isolate" command is not enough. There should also be a "hide all" and "show all" button on the browser pane so you can quickly hide or unhide all. In large assemblies sometimes it takes a lot of time to find out which parts or subassembly parts have been hidden. There were such buttons in MDT 2009.
