yep.. If you used a "sketch driven" pattern to create those holes then you can select "feature pattern select" in the pattern dialog to quickly populate all the holes with the fastener you want in them..
But I fully agree that it would be better if you also had the freedom to pick a feature consisting of multiple sketch points that was created without the sketch driven pattern..
I never understood why Autodesk didn't incorporate the wonderful functionality of "kwiksert" addin that Kent created.. It made placing stuff like this super simple..
@PaulMunford Absolutely right. I always interfere people when they are creating multiple holes by using a sketch (without sketch driven pattern), however they never understand what am I talking about. 🙂 They could get the point if and only if they experience the assembly environment with their multiple holes. 🙂 And then of course, they turn back to the part and modify it by using skecth driven pattern command.
In other words, I know and always use the sketch driven pattern just like every experienced users do, but it doesn't make sense for every user... I think it should.
Even for experienced users, why do we have to;
- deal with "center point" and "point" properties of all the points in the sketch (to easily/automatically select necessary points),
- create an additional feature in the part
- find "the original hole" to assemble "the original fastener" in the assembly environment (so that the feature pattern command works properly)
P.S. I know that the third item is completely a different issue. I mean, it can be corrected even for the current situation. However, it "automatically" makes sense when the hole sketches can be used. (Because hole sketches do not have an origin point.)
