Its one my bug bearers....
It would be a great idea if you could update the now 'out of date' Parameters Window. Here are some features i think we all would like to see-
1. Parameter window - open as a separate floating window
The current workflow is to add a parameter, do something with it, re-open the parameter window, change something else, close it etc. Please please please provide a floating parameter window that we can move to one side out of the parent inventor window so we can work seamlessly between model parameter / parameter model without opening and closing the window a 100 times or more.
2. Parameter window - Re-organise rows
the ability to re-organise rows by drag / drop or up / down arrow to group related parameters together. No one has the perfect list of parameters where they will all get added in sequence but we all work better when we can find the parameters next to each other
3. Parameter window - Search feature
provide a search box that when we type, the list of Parameters is filtered to drill down to a parameter.
4. Parameter window - Add Group Folders
The ability to add parameters to groups to maintain a parameter relationship
5. Parameter window - Change Parameter Type
The ability to change the Parameter type and edit the value as needed.
6. Parameter window - Export Text & Yes/No Parameters
The ability to mark a Text or Yes/No Parameter as an export so that it can used as an iProperty
7. Parameter window - Text & Yes/No Parameters link
The ability to link a Text Parameter when deriving parameters
8. Parameter window - virtual Component - Parameters
Possible add parameters to Virtual Components. A Virtual Component still requires information (its the only purpose) and most of that information comes from another file, namely a Base model / Assembly. By adding Parameters, it makes them a flexible as everyone needs.
9. Part / Assembly window - Any window with parameters
Please add the value to the parameter drop down list on every feature. We cannot remember all of the names but we can identify the size we need. Just add the value next to the parameter name
10.Part / Assembly window - Any feature
Please provide more space for the parameter to be entered. Parameters (especially nested calculations) do not fit in a 1in wide text box when the parameter expression probably has 100 characters. Focus on the needs of the design, not the design of the form.
Inventor is parametric driven application and yet, the parameter window and anything related to parameters is minimal at best and hasn't been updated for years. We need more flexibility with parameters and a modern update that is in-line with the current Inventor UI and allows us, the users, your customers a much better experience when working with parameters
Please vote up if you think inventor needs a parameter window update and add any features you think it needs.
