triangle or polygon pattern array

triangle or polygon pattern array

Hi,

I would like the ability to create a pattern based on a triangle or possible even a tool capable of basing a pattern on different polygons.

The image below is an example. It was created, by drawings an array of points for 1 segment of the hexagon and then using a circular pattern to add the other segments. A few of the holes do not quite fit in with the pattern so were addem manually.

The thing is it takes quite a bit of time to setup and create what is essentially a triangular or hexagonal array. Surly we can have a tool to create patterns like this? I have seen other software packages create these kind of patterns in seconds, while in Inventor I have to take the time to draw it out.

An interesting tool, but I was hoping for something included and built in rather than a 3rd party paid tool.

An interesting and very practical tool.

Filling pattern shapes, commands can be added. Thus according to the selected shape forms are made pattern replication. User içinböyle is provided by various replication alternatives.

Just because it's called a rectangular pattern doesn't mean the directions you choose have to be perpendicular:

(and then you can suppress the bits you don't want).

That is a work around, but in practise requires a number of steps. I would have to supresss a large number of occurances to get my desired pattern. On a project I am currently working on there are 791 holes in the pattern. As the occurances have to be selected individually it would take a while to find them all.

In the example above, that does not have rotational symetry, I actually created a 6th of the pattern and used a circular patter to complete the pattern. I had to leave out all the hole that didn;t follow the pattern for each segment and add them namually afterwards.

Having a single tool do this would be of great benefit.

I have also seen another post related to the pattern tool that would be useful in conjunction with the feature I have requested. The other posts describes having borders on a generateed pattern.
