Recording tool presets (depth of cut, side engagement) as a tool preset from an operation, directly into the tool. The tool would have multiple tool presets.
This is towards having a short standard tool list (Lean)
This is not recording a template, as a template would record the whole operation. for example tool speeds used for a 3D adapative could be reused for a 2D adaptative, or as roughing parameters for a contour. Therefore the tool preset would enable to quickly reuse a tool to itss best speeds with other strategies.
A tool to record tool preset speeds (Slotting, side finishing, Surfacing and more) similar to Fusion would be required (other idea already posted!)
currently in fusion you have to input those speeds manually, but our workflow waits until we have established the machining operation works well (including a good finish) to then record the tool preset speed in Fusion, however by then we have to re-write all parameters manually, having to jump between the operation window and the tool preset window.
