support IDX Format

The IDX (Incremental Design Exchange) format is an XML-based messaging format.

It is based on the ProSTEP EDMD (ECAD Design and MCAD Design) open schema for the incremental exchange of PCB layout changes between MCAD and ECAD tools.

We should have in addtion to IDF Format.

Yes please do something. Mentor PADS can now collaborate with the following MCAD-systems. Notice which system is missing?

New file formats are always welcome, especially when it allows better compatability.

ProSTEP iViP  "Recommendation ECAD/MCAD Collaboration; PSI 5 Version 2.0"  was released in May 2010.

So IDX is not a NEW format.

EDMD workflow and IDX format  must be supported by Inventor otherwise Inventor  would not be used in electro-mechanical projects at all.

One of the most signifcant PCB-Layout Tools on the market cannot work with Autodesk Inventor. This is something Autodesk needs to rectify in their own interest.

Also concerning the timeline:

Inventor functionality stops at 1996. And Inventor can't even export IDf 3.0 files, only import them.

Looking forward to hearing something positive about this.

Best regards,

Altium has a Co-Designer plugin for MCAD tools (Inventor/Solid Works/CREO and more) which allows their Vault Server (Concord Pro) to easily exchange ECAD/MCAD data between the Altium and MCAD platforms.  I suspect this Co-Designer software is nothing more than a 3rd party fancy IDX import/export tool.  Unfortunately, the Co-Designer plugin requires yearly licenses for Concord Pro since the Co-Designer plugin requires the user to login to a Concord Pro server to push/pull designs in both the ECAD and MCAD directions.  If Autodesk can create an IDX import/export tool similar to the Altium Co-Designer Plugin, then all of us Altium/Inventor users would be very happy.

I am not bashing the Altium Concord Pro Server as it is a fantastic software package that includes a vault, a component management system, and the ability to share ECAD/MCAD data.  However, my company already has a vault and plans for PLM, which would eliminate the need for most of what Concord Pro does.  I just need ECAD/MCAD.

Support .IDX Format.  Our Electronics Folks are having issues communicating between Inventor and Altium.

I'll add my name here as well - I know Autodesk has Eagle now and is trying to make a fully integrated, first-party ECAD/MCAD platform. But in the mean time, until that's a fully viable option for my clients, I'd sure rather do ECAD with OrCad and Altium and Fusion360, instead of SolidWorks.

As an ECAD guy, it's really easy for me to export an .idx file.  It would be very helpful if the MCAD guys I work with could import them.

Hello,

are there any news on this topic?

Hello,
The Fusion Blog mentioned a new partnership between Cadence and Autodesk. Are there any plans to create an interface between Orcad/Allegro and Inventor, respectively IDX files and Inventor?
