Spotface in fillets

Spotface in fillets

When making parts for CNC, you need to have an inside corner radius to allow for the tool. So when you have screw heads that need to sit flat near these corners, you have to spotface. It's pretty much the only time I need to use spotfacing. To get rid of material that interferes with the screw head.

In Inventor, the spotface feature disappoints. I have a profile I want to CNC and then on a secondary op, add a spot face. But the spot face leaves me with the need to add a 2nd Inventor feature to the hole.

Ideally it clears out all material above the spot face or gives the option to extend the spot face in the opposite direction.

How is this different from the existing "Extend Start" option that was added to the hole feature a couple of releases ago?

As far as I can tell, it should solve your problem by simply checking the box to turn the option on - assuming you're not using a version old enough that the option doesn't exist yet.

Woe, yes, it's already there. I never knew about extend start, thanks for the heads up on that.

@PatrickCampbellCoral, it's not brand new, but is relatively recent - came out in 2017 or 2018.
