Speed Diagnostic Tool

Speed Diagnostic Tool

We are often in a situation where we need to upgrade our computers in the hopes of increasing the speed of Inventor while working with medium to large assemblies. However, determining what would make the most impact is a tedious and difficult task (multi-core, higher clock, faster graphics card, more memory, faster hdd). Furthermore, there can be significant performance changes between versions, some much better, some much worse. It would be nice to have an inbuilt logging tool in Inventor which would report commands used and the time to execute command. This might also help in determining if a particular procedure, assembly, part, etc. is causing a problem.

I totally agree with this suggestion.  Solidworks actually has this ability, you can do a complete rebuild of a part and solidworks will log how much time was spent to rebuild each feature.  This helped me to know how to model more efficiently (ie avoid certain features until final design).  I think inventor could similarly benefit from this.
