One of the things we do with inventor at my job is creating code prints. We place a floor plan, and then add sketch symbols for the different code items such as lights, fire extinguishers, etc. In the end, we have 20 to 30 symbols on the one print. Then, we have to put symbols with legend text in to tell the people reading the prints what each symbol means. Arranging and rearranging this Legend is very tedious, as you have to move the symbols around one at a time to change the numbers of rows or columns, and it can be difficult to properly align them all.
I would like to see a "Symbol Legend" block that can be placed in a drawing kind of like a parts list table (except it would not have cell borders ideally). This block would display every symbol placed on the drawing page, along with the name of the symbol next to each one. It could also be edited like a parts list table, to hide certain symbols if they are not needed on the Legend or if the name doesn't match what the symbol refers to on the drawing.
Something like this would allow a Legend of symbols to be created that can be moved with a single click, is easy to re-sort or change numbers of rows and columns, and ensures that no symbols that are on the drawing are missed on the Legend.
I don't believe there is anything like this currently, but if I am mistaken, by all means please direct me to this feature.
