Sketch Driven Move Bodies

Sketch Driven Move Bodies

I have an interesting workflow for jib door modeling that I like a lot, but I would like to see an update to the move bodies feature to save myself some extra steps.

My current workflow involves:

- a single running trim part with profiles swept around a room.  I include view reps with cutout sections of solid bodies for each jib door, and the static pieces.

- individual panel parts, also with view reps for static and jib door components.

- Deriving the individual panel first, for shared origin, and the running trim part.  Both derived component definitions have the view rep locked to corresponding parts.

At this point the running trim part solid bodies do not align correctly, so I move them with a combination of sketch driven pattern and extrude intersect. which is the part I think could be a useful feature:

-Create 3D Sketch with reference point for current and new location of trim

-Create Sketch Driven Pattern with reference base point and reference faces for alignment

-Extrude Intersect from derived panel's plan sketch region to only include the trim in the new location.

Essentially what I'm asking for is a sketch driven pattern where the input bodies are deleted and only the resultant bodies remain.

Or...

Another way to put it is: I want an option in Move Bodies feature to move based on sketchpoints and face orientation.

Below is a reference image of a jib door [modeling unfinished, but up to the workflow above]:

Both the wainscott paneling and Chairrail field pattern around the room is adjusted for actual field conditions then cut on our CNC.
