It would be great to be able to subdivide the bounding boxes on a per component basis withing the derive or substitute prompts. things like Z-channels loose a lot of their clarity when bounded as a box, whereas if inventor could compute 2 or 3 optimized bounding boxes, it would allow simplified assemblies to have a lot more detail where it matters. for example, the part below:
simplifies to a rectangular prism, but to preserve the shape somewhat, what if 2 or 3 bounding boxes were used?
A dialog could be added within the define envelopes section that allows to subdivide a box when a part box is selected
