Sheet metal relief shape on a 0 deg flange angle or fillet-cutout for clearance

Sheet metal relief shape on a 0 deg flange angle or fillet-cutout for clearance

Hello folks,

In the sheet metal environment, you're able to use a selected relief shape on each side of a bend you create (with the Flange feature).

I recently noticed that you're unable to use a relief shape once the flange is 0 degrees (just a flat flange).

I thought that it is very usable to create clearance for a so called mortise and tenon connection.

In the example shown below, I had to unfold the flange that contains the relief shape.

Unfolding every short flange is not what I want to do, especially in more complex, parametric multibody parts.

Another idea is to use the fillet option to cut out this clearance by selecting the desired edge!

Now it is only possible to add material in a 90 degree corner, and not cut it away.

This fillet option could be more useful, since you cannot use a flange with relief shape on a curved edge (only straight edges).

In the figure below, I could use different methods, but I'm seeking for this feature for more complex parts.

Let me know your opinions!

Greetings,

Bas Guijt
