Selection filter for points, edges, faces and volumes

I would like to limit my selection to points only in a sketch environment. It is quite annoying when I need to create some free shape from splines and the whole spline moves when only a point should.

The selection filter should be available globally, not only in specific environments. I put an example above for a sketch env., similar could be used in creating datum objects, applying constraints, etc.

Some 3D programs have the option to select point / edge / surface  / volume.
