When we convert a part to sheet metal, we can't choose a custom template.
For lot's of people, this is an important routine, and it simply doesn't have the basics to be a satisfying process.
We are in the era of communication, things like anycad and other similar workflows are announced every day to help communication between companies....
... but the most basic stuff doesn't work (regarding sheet metal conversion), so stop spending time in fancy workflows, and start things from the basic needs, from the beginning, import weel and converting well first.
1- Import models with persistent names in the browser after convert.
2- Convert solids for sheet metal, choosing a ready custom templates
Nowadays is a current workflow to import steps or other 3rd party files.
One of the basic operations is to convert parts from solids to sheet metal.... but this workflow is so poor that makes me sad.
The workaround is not good, no one wants to have sheet metal parameters in a solid part template.
